Temperatures in the UK are expected to rise to around 25C this week, with mostly dry conditions and some sunny spells. While warmth will persist in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland may experience cooler temperatures and occasional rain. Despite the rise in temperatures, the forecast does not meet the criteria for an official heatwave, which requires three consecutive days of temperatures between 26 to 28C.
The warm spell is notable for late September, as the UK can still receive hot air from southern Europe or North Africa. While the current warmth is expected to decrease slightly by the end of the week, it will remain above average, with the last week of September also projected to be warmer than usual, although autumn-like conditions may emerge in October.
