The UK government is consulting on new regulations aimed at reducing the appeal of vaping products to children. Proposed measures include banning enticing flavor names related to sweets and alcohol, implementing plain packaging, and restricting the visibility of vapes in stores. Health Secretary James Murray emphasized the need to address the growing trend of youth vaping, with nearly one in five adolescents having tried it by 2025.
In addition to these measures, the consultation seeks to expand smoke-free laws, including potential bans on vaping in cars with children and near schools. These proposals follow previous actions against single-use vapes and aim to create a safer environment for young people while still allowing adult smokers access to vaping as a cessation tool.
