The UK Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, has announced plans to simplify corporate reporting rules, aiming to reduce the paperwork burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The proposed changes could exempt some SMEs from certain reporting requirements, potentially saving businesses around £450 million annually.
Reynolds highlighted the excessive length of current reports, which can average 98,000 words, and emphasized the need to eliminate outdated bureaucracy. A consultation on these proposals is set to begin on September 7.
