The UK government has announced that households located near new power pylons will benefit from a £250 annual reduction in their energy bills. This initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade the electricity grid, with over 40 projects planned across Great Britain aimed at modernizing infrastructure built largely in the 1960s.
Eligible households, living within 500 meters of the new grid infrastructure, could save up to £2,500 over a decade. The government emphasizes that this upgrade is essential for transitioning to renewable energy sources and reducing overall electricity costs for consumers.
