Donald Trump has publicly criticized fellow Republicans, including Senator John Cornyn and strategist Karl Rove, for allegedly undermining Ken Paxton, the GOP nominee in the Texas Senate race. Trump claims their actions could jeopardize Paxton's chances, which polls suggest are already challenged by Democratic nominee James Talarico.
A loss for Paxton would mark a significant shift in Texas politics, as it would be the first time since 1988 that a Republican has not won a Senate election in the state. Meanwhile, White House press secretary Katie Zacharia faces scrutiny over her legal qualifications following her failure to pass the California bar exam.
Watch for the impact of Trump's criticism on GOP unity as the Texas Senate race unfolds. A Paxton loss could reshape party dynamics and influence future primaries. Additionally, monitor Katie Zacharia's handling of press relations amid scrutiny over her qualifications.
