George Gordon, 65, is on trial at Liverpool Crown Court, accused of murdering Delia McInerney and concealing her body in a freezer for nearly three years. While he admits to killing her, he claims it was in self-defense and denies the murder charge. The prosecution alleges he exploited her identity for financial gain after her death.
The jury heard that Gordon misled friends about McInerney's whereabouts and continued to access her bank accounts while her body remained hidden. The trial is expected to last six weeks as details of the case unfold, including the circumstances surrounding her death and Gordon's actions thereafter.
