An inquest has revealed that Shaun Burton, a train driver, died from traumatic injuries sustained during a train crash near Bedford on June 19. The incident involved his East Midlands Railway train, which reportedly passed a red signal before the collision, resulting in over 100 passengers requiring hospital treatment.
The inquest, led by Senior Coroner Emma Whitting, has been adjourned pending further investigations by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and British Transport Police. Burton was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash occurred.
