Northern Spain is preparing for an influx of 460,000 additional visitors for the total solar eclipse on Wednesday. Authorities have raised concerns about the heightened risk of wildfires due to extremely dry vegetation and increased traffic, which could hinder emergency response efforts. Measures such as banning parking near dry areas and closing natural parks have been implemented to mitigate risks.
The eclipse will be best viewed in a 200km wide band across Spain, attracting tourists and prompting health warnings regarding eye safety. NASA will also live stream the event from a selected village.
