A significant search operation is currently taking place in the Western Isles for a fishing boat with three crew members that has not returned as scheduled. The alarm was raised late Tuesday evening when the vessel was reported overdue from Lewis.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is coordinating the search, which includes two helicopters, a plane, six coastguard rescue teams, two RNLI lifeboats, and local police. The operation is complicated by severe weather warnings, including potential gales and heavy rain linked to a weather system from Hurricane Isaias.
As the search intensifies, keep an eye on updates from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency regarding the weather's impact on operations. The situation may evolve rapidly, and community support for the families of the missing crew could become a focal point in the coming days.
