A tragic incident in Peshawar, Pakistan, resulted in the deaths of at least 33 pupils and a teacher after the roof of the Al-Khair school collapsed. Emergency services reported that many others were injured, with some in critical condition, and fears remain that more individuals are trapped under the debris. The building, described as temporary and constructed with substandard materials, faced scrutiny for potential building code violations.
Rescue efforts were hampered by the narrow street leading to the school, complicating access for emergency responders. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and the governor has ordered a safety audit of schools in the province to prevent future tragedies.
