Robbie Savage has been named the new manager of Peterborough United, taking over a struggling League One side currently sitting second from bottom. This marks Savage's first Football League managerial role since his retirement as a player in 2011, following his departure from Forest Green Rovers.
Savage expressed enthusiasm for the challenge ahead, emphasizing his desire to prove skeptics wrong and instill a passionate playing style in his young team. He is set to meet the players for the first time on Sunday and will lead them in an upcoming Football League Trophy match against Ipswich Under-21s.
Savage's first match against Ipswich Under-21s will be crucial for building team morale. Watch for his tactical approach and how he integrates young players into the squad. Success in this match could set the tone for a turnaround in their League One campaign.
