The RSPCA Coventry and District Branch reported a significant rise in cat and kitten intakes this summer, with 399 animals taken in, marking an increase of 150 compared to last year. The charity attributes this surge to rising pet care costs, including neutering and veterinary expenses, which have led many owners to surrender their pets.
With the RSPCA Coventry shelter at capacity and a waiting list of 130, readers should monitor local initiatives aimed at supporting pet owners facing financial difficulties. Community outreach and partnerships may emerge to address the rising abandonment crisis.
