A 76-year-old man has been charged with concealing his identity at a protest in Portsmouth, where anti-migrant demonstrators clashed with counter-protesters. The police enforced new powers under the Crime and Policing Act to prevent the use of face coverings at protests, leading to the arrest of Timothy Miller, who will appear in court on Monday.
In addition to Miller, a 16-year-old was arrested for violent disorder related to previous protests, and another individual faces charges for assaulting a police officer. The police maintained a separation between the rival groups during the event.
