Essex Police have concluded their investigation into whether Luke D'Wit, currently serving a life sentence for double murder, could be classified as a serial killer. The review was initiated due to similarities in the deaths of D'Wit's father and grandfather, but officials decided against pursuing additional charges after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service.
D'Wit was convicted in March 2024 for poisoning Stephen and Carol Baxter, whom he had befriended. Despite the discovery of fentanyl at his residence, police determined that the cost of further prosecution was not justified given his current lengthy sentence.
