The PGA Tour is set to revamp its postseason structure, introducing a Championship Series finale that will feature a 72-hole stroke-play tournament followed by a two-week match play event. This new format aims to better determine the season-long champion and enhance fan engagement through a head-to-head competition format.
Beginning after the 2028 season, the postseason will include the top 90 players from the points list, with a unique group-stage competition leading to a match-play bracket. This marks the first time match play will be incorporated into the PGA Tour postseason, reflecting a shift in how champions are crowned and potentially increasing viewer interest.
