Around 40 permanent warning signs will be placed along the shores of Windermere to inform the public about the risks of algae poisoning. These signs will also be installed in various locations across Cumbria, funded by the Environment Agency.
The notices will describe the appearance of blue-green algae and provide guidance on how to report sightings using the Bloomin' Algae app. This initiative follows recent incidents, including a reported dog death linked to algae ingestion, highlighting the importance of public awareness regarding water safety.
