Rebecca Louise Burwood, a nurse, has been removed from the nursing register after stealing £750,000 from a 99-year-old woman over a six-year period. The funds were used for personal expenses, including cosmetic surgery and vehicle purchases, while Burwood manipulated the vulnerable resident into transferring ownership of her home.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council found Burwood's actions constituted serious misconduct, causing significant financial and emotional harm to the victim. Despite Burwood's claims of friendship with the elderly woman, the panel concluded that she exploited the trust placed in her for personal gain.
