Newport County has faced significant challenges with penalty conversions, successfully scoring only two out of nine attempts over the past two seasons. This 16.7% success rate is the lowest in the English Football League, raising concerns as the team is just two points shy of the play-off positions.
Despite changes in players and management, the team's struggles at the spot persist. Manager Hayden Mullins has expressed understanding of the difficulties involved in taking penalties, emphasizing the need for practice and preparation moving forward.
Watch for Newport's upcoming matches to see if they can break their penalty curse. With Gwenge back, his practice could be pivotal. Mullins' focus on technique and mental resilience will be tested as the team aims for the play-offs. Every missed penalty could impact their season.
