A new 10p coin has been introduced into circulation, showcasing the portrait of King Charles III alongside an image of the capercaillie, a grouse species facing extinction. This marks the first release of 10p coins in four years, with 600,000 dated 2023 and 6.5 million dated 2026 now available through banks and post offices across the UK.
The Royal Mint's redesign aims to highlight the King's appreciation for nature, with all newly minted coins now featuring various aspects of the UK's flora and fauna. The capercaillie design is intended to raise awareness about the bird's declining population and conservation efforts.
