An internal review of the Defence Serious Crime Command (DSCC) has surfaced, highlighting ongoing issues in its handling of serious crimes, particularly regarding support for victims. Established in 2022 following the tragic death of Gunner Jaysley Beck, the unit was intended to operate independently from military command but has faced criticism for delays and inconsistencies in investigations.
The Ministry of Defence acknowledged the review's findings and stated that improvements have been made, including enhanced victim support and governance. However, the report warns that without further reform, trust in the military justice system could erode, as concerns about leadership and resource allocation persist.
