Congresswoman Haley Stevens, who narrowly lost the Michigan Democratic Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed, has endorsed his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers. This endorsement, shared via a video on social media, follows a series of tensions between Stevens and El-Sayed, particularly over their differing views on Israel. Stevens had previously refrained from endorsing El-Sayed, even after a brokered truce among party leaders.
The endorsement comes at a critical time as control of the Senate seat is vital for the Democratic Party. Stevens' public support for Rogers, alongside her fiancé's vocal criticisms of El-Sayed, highlights the divisions within the party and raises questions about the implications for Democratic unity ahead of the midterm elections.
