Thousands of students in Wales will receive their GCSE results on Thursday, marking the first time Year 10 pupils will be graded under revamped qualifications. The changes have been met with criticism for the pressure they place on both students and teachers, but the WJEC has assured that adjustments have been made to ensure fairness in results.
In addition to GCSEs, students will also receive results for vocational qualifications, with the Welsh Baccalaureate being phased out. The new curriculum includes a shift towards class-based assessments, and further changes are expected in the coming years as new subjects and qualifications are introduced.
