Jewel Howard-Taylor, who served as Liberia's Vice President from 2018 to 2024, has been charged with drug trafficking and money laundering by the country's Justice Ministry. The charges include illegally importing, selling, and transporting controlled substances, as well as facilitating drug trafficking operations.
The investigation has also implicated three foreign nationals, including two Croatians and one Ukrainian, who are believed to be part of the same drug network. Liberia's government is intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking, particularly as the region becomes a significant transit point for cocaine from South America to Europe.
