Benjamin William Day, a 20-year-old forensic science student, has pleaded guilty to the murder of 24-year-old Maria Saceanu. The incident occurred in a plastic-lined room at an Airbnb, which Day had prepared to resemble a 'kill room' inspired by the TV show Dexter. Prosecutors revealed that he meticulously planned the murder, using a burner phone to contact Saceanu.
Day inflicted 78 knife wounds on Saceanu before abandoning plans for dismemberment due to an injury he sustained during the attack. He is currently in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on December 4.
