North Ronaldsay, Orkney's northernmost island, celebrated the birth of baby Duncan Wilder Thorstein Traill Suarez Ford, marking the first birth in over three decades. Parents Alice Traill Ford and Jorge Suarez traveled from Costa Rica for the delivery, which took place in a family home steeped in history.
Island residents commemorated the occasion with a traditional whisky toast, following a custom of raising a flag to announce significant events. The family plans to return to Costa Rica in November but intends for Duncan to visit North Ronaldsay regularly.
