England's Rugby League team suffered a 30-12 defeat to Tonga in their World Cup opener, raising concerns about their chances of advancing. Coach Brian McDermott acknowledged the team's errors and emphasized the need for improvement ahead of their next matches against France and Papua New Guinea.
The loss marks a challenging start for McDermott, who took over as coach with minimal preparation. England must secure victories in their upcoming games to maintain a realistic hope of reaching the semi-finals, complicating their path with the group phase structure.
