NHS Grampian has halted all planned paediatric surgeries at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin due to concerns regarding the quality and safety of care for children. This follows an earlier suspension of emergency paediatric surgeries and comes after an unannounced inspection by Healthcare Improvement Scotland raised issues about staffing and training.
The health board is reviewing staffing levels and implementing changes to ensure that adequately trained personnel are available for emergencies. Outpatient paediatric services will continue as scheduled, and families are encouraged to attend their appointments.
