The film adaptation of 'Verity,' starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, diverges from Colleen Hoover's original novel in several key aspects. Notably, character details such as the hair color of Verity and the number of children she has are altered, with significant plot elements omitted to streamline the story for the screen. The film introduces new twists, including a deeper exploration of the dynamics between Lowen and Verity, which were not present in the book.
Director Michael Showalter emphasized the importance of maintaining focus in the film, leading to the exclusion of certain backstory elements, like Lowen's sleepwalking. The adaptation aims to capture the essence of the story while offering a fresh perspective, prompting discussions about character motivations and narrative interpretations among audiences.
