The COP31 summit has commenced in Turkey, gathering representatives from nearly 190 countries to address pressing climate issues exacerbated by the current El Niño phenomenon. Host officials emphasized the need for tangible outcomes that can be perceived as real progress in combating climate change, particularly for vulnerable nations facing severe impacts.
Discussions are expected to highlight the divide between developed and developing nations regarding climate finance and emission reductions. With record-breaking temperatures this year, the urgency for effective climate action is underscored, as countries seek to navigate the complexities of climate justice and adaptation funding.
