Chelsea's Joao Pedro's injury was unexpectedly revealed through Fantasy Premier League (FPL) activity, catching head coach Xabi Alonso off guard. Reports indicated that accounts believed to be linked to Chelsea staff and players made transfers involving Pedro before the injury was confirmed, leading to speculation among FPL managers.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges clubs face in controlling information leaks regarding player availability. Despite Chelsea's efforts to tighten security and remind players about sharing sensitive information, the situation underscores the difficulty in monitoring the actions of players' friends and family members in the context of fantasy sports.
Watch for Chelsea's response to this leak as they may implement stricter measures to control information flow. The incident could lead to increased scrutiny on players' FPL involvement, potentially reshaping how clubs manage player availability disclosures.
