Anthony Hall, a 50-year-old blind man, has been sentenced to 36 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, after driving 150 miles while intoxicated. Hall took his partner's car without permission and was stopped by police on the M6 after swerving. He admitted to drinking four bottles of wine before the incident and was found to be over the legal alcohol limit.
The court acknowledged Hall's difficult personal circumstances and lack of prior convictions. He has been ordered to complete rehabilitation activities, abstain from alcohol for 90 days, and is disqualified from driving for 12 months.
