Apple has introduced the HomePod Mini 2, featuring a new S10 chip that will eventually support Siri AI, although this functionality will not be available at launch. The speaker includes a sound glow feature that syncs LED lights with album art and can serve as a default speaker for Macs. It is priced at $149, which is $20 more than its predecessor, and preorders begin today with shipping set for October 30th.
In addition to the HomePod Mini 2, Apple announced other home products, including the HomeView smart display and the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. The Mini 2 can pair with the new Apple TV for surround sound and can work with multiple units for an enhanced audio experience, although it lacks significant audio upgrades compared to the original model.
Watch for updates on Siri AI's rollout for the HomePod Mini 2, as its absence at launch may impact user experience. The integration with Apple TV 4K could enhance home entertainment, but the lack of significant audio upgrades raises questions about its competitive edge.
