Starting November 20, Airbnb will prohibit hosts from requiring guests to perform cleaning tasks such as washing dishes or taking out trash. This change aims to standardize house rules and enhance the guest experience, but it has sparked mixed reactions among hosts. Some hosts express concern that increased mess could lead to higher cleaning costs, while guests welcome the reduction of checkout responsibilities.
The new guidelines come amid rising cleaning fees and host frustrations over commission increases. Many hosts are considering alternative booking methods to mitigate the impact of these changes on their businesses.
As Airbnb's new rules take effect, hosts should prepare for potential shifts in guest behavior and cleaning costs. Watch for how this impacts host-guest dynamics and whether more hosts will pivot to direct bookings to maintain control over their properties.
