Sharif Ahmadzai, a 26-year-old Afghan boxer, has been arrested in Athens regarding the death of Scottish aid worker Elisabeth Jane Ross. Her body was discovered in a suitcase in an abandoned building on July 18, days after she was reported missing. Ahmadzai, who has lived in Greece since fleeing Afghanistan, is expected to appear in court soon.
Ross, 38, had been volunteering with a refugee support group in Athens and was last seen on July 15. Authorities have linked Ahmadzai to the case through surveillance footage and financial transactions using Ross's bank cards. A toxicology report is underway to determine the cause of her death.
