Waymo has introduced its new robotaxi, the Ojai, to riders in Denver, Las Vegas, and San Diego. Currently, around 300 Ojai vehicles are part of Waymo's fleet, which also includes the older Jaguar I-Pace. The Ojai features Waymo's sixth-generation self-driving technology and a redesigned user interface, aiming to enhance rider experience and operational efficiency.
The Ojai is built on Zeekr's SEA-M platform and is designed for durability and cost-effectiveness. However, U.S. import tariffs on vehicles from China may impact overall costs as Waymo plans to increase its fleet to 5,000 Ojai vehicles by 2026, significantly expanding its service capabilities.
