The United Nations is partnering with Google to improve access to its global statistics through a new platform called the UN System Data Commons. This initiative aims to facilitate natural-language queries and replace the traditional UNData portal, enhancing the usability of data for AI systems.
The collaboration follows a UNICEF study revealing that many AI models struggle to accurately retrieve global development statistics. With plans to integrate 80% of UN statistical datasets by 2027, this platform is expected to support better data retrieval and analysis for AI applications.
