The Met Office has reported that the summer of 2026 was the hottest in the UK, with an average mean temperature of 16.5°C. This record heat was made 130 times more likely due to climate change, as back-to-back heatwaves affected much of Europe. England experienced its highest temperature of 38.1°C on August 13, and the summer also saw the driest July on record.
