Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has declared Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a national security threat, initiating a ban on support for the group. This decision follows reports of the IRGC's involvement in intimidation and attacks within the UK, particularly targeting Jewish communities.
In addition to the IRGC, two other groups are being proscribed. New powers will enable law enforcement to prosecute individuals for acts of sabotage without needing to prove a direct foreign connection, streamlining the legal process against foreign-backed threats.
