The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has been launched and is en route to its orbit at the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point (L2), a journey of approximately three months and one million miles. This telescope is designed to conduct a comprehensive survey of the universe, boasting a field of view 100 times larger than that of Hubble and the ability to survey the sky 1,000 times faster with its advanced infrared camera.
In addition to its broad survey capabilities, Roman will perform detailed 3D scans to map dark matter distribution and investigate dark energy's role in the universe's evolution. Its Coronagraph system will enable direct imaging of exoplanets, enhancing our understanding of planetary systems and cosmic history.
