Recent storms have led to significant flooding in parts of England and Wales, damaging numerous homes. The Met Office has issued warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain, predicting up to 75mm of rain in some areas within 12 hours, following a summer marked by five heatwaves and ongoing drought conditions.
The Environment Agency has issued 40 flood alerts across regions including the Midlands and Yorkshire. Despite recent rainfall, 71.3% of England remains in drought, highlighting the challenges of managing water resources amid extreme weather fluctuations.
