Michael Duffy, captain of Derry City, emphasized the importance of winning the FAI Cup over securing a spot in European competition. He scored both goals in a 2-0 semi-final victory against Galway United, leading his team to the final against Waterford on November 8. Duffy expressed that the focus was solely on achieving cup success rather than European qualification, which became irrelevant after recent league results.
Derry City has shown improved performance since interim manager Mark Connolly took over, alleviating relegation fears and fostering a more expressive style of play. Duffy looks forward to the final, highlighting the significance of the occasion for the club and the community.
