Rivian Increases EV Sales Forecast Amid Production Growth

Source: TechCrunch - Published: 02 Jul 2026 15:30

Rivian has raised its vehicle delivery forecast for 2023, now expecting to ship between 65,000 and 70,000 units, up from a previous estimate of 62,000 to 67,000. This adjustment follows a successful second quarter where the company built over 12,600 vehicles and delivered nearly 12,200, surpassing earlier expectations.

The boost in forecast is attributed to the introduction of the R2 SUV and growth in its existing models, despite challenges in the U.S. EV market, including the removal of federal tax incentives. Rivian aims to ramp up production with new facilities and has set ambitious sales targets for its R2 model.

Watch for Rivian's R2 SUV sales as they aim for 20,000-25,000 units this year. The ramp-up in production at their Illinois and Georgia facilities could signal a shift in the EV market, especially as they navigate the loss of federal incentives and focus on profitability.
