Complaints to the Consumer Council for Water (CCW) regarding water companies have surged by 84% over the past year, reaching a total of 15,115. This increase is attributed to customer dissatisfaction with rising bills, which have seen significant hikes, including a 31% rise for Thames Water customers in 2024.
The CCW highlighted that the main issues raised by customers included billing clarity and affordability. As water companies face increased regulatory pressures and rising costs, the industry is under scrutiny to improve transparency and service quality in response to growing customer frustration.
