Nearly 60 years after the Aberfan disaster, portraits of the children who perished continue to hold significant emotional value for their families. Created by artist William Richardson, these paintings serve as a means for families to grieve and remember their loved ones, fostering conversations about loss and preserving memories.
The BBC program 'Unseen: The Aberfan Portraits' highlights the impact of these artworks, illustrating how they have become integral to family life in Aberfan, allowing survivors to keep the memories of the children alive in their homes and hearts.
