Alan MacPherson, an 83-year-old from Stenhousemuir, has been sentenced to four years in prison for possessing over two million child sexual abuse images, marking a significant case in Scotland. The court noted that more than 805,000 of these images were identified as depicting serious abuse, with many remaining unexamined due to the sheer volume of the collection.
MacPherson's actions were discovered after police traced his IP address linked to the distribution of these materials. Following his release, he will be supervised for three years and registered as a sex offender for life.
