OpenAI announced that it will begin displaying advertisements on its ChatGPT Free and Go tiers in India, following a recent update to its terms of service. This decision comes as the company aims to monetize its large user base, which exceeds 100 million weekly active users in the country, many of whom utilize the free or lower-cost options.
The initial rollout will feature ads from 50 brands, facilitated through partnerships with WPP and Omnicom. An ad manager is set to launch next month, allowing marketers to create campaigns with a minimum daily budget requirement.
