The case of Dorothy Thompson, who went missing in 1985, has resurfaced with new details following the release of HBO's docuseries, 'The Pet Cemetery Murders.' Thompson's body was discovered a month after her disappearance, wrapped in chains and asphyxiated, leading to a lengthy investigation that remained cold for decades. Recent testimonies have implicated a former associate, resulting in a manslaughter conviction in 2014.
The docuseries explores not only the murder but also the tragic history surrounding the Azalea Original Pet Cemetery, which Thompson inherited. The cemetery has been linked to multiple tragedies, including the death of Thompson's husband and mother, raising questions about the land's dark legacy and its impact on the community.
