Maryland has parted ways with defensive coordinator Ted Monachino following a disappointing performance that saw the team concede at least 35 points for the fifth consecutive game. Monachino, who was in his second season with the Terps, will be replaced by co-defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, with inside linebackers coach Zac Spavital also stepping into a co-defensive role.
The decision comes after Maryland's recent loss to Rutgers, where they allowed 37 points, contributing to a total of 219 points given up during their five-game losing streak. The team's defensive struggles have raised questions about the future of head coach Mike Locksley, who has a record of 39-54 in his tenure.
