Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's recent presidential win in Brazil has energized supporters and environmental advocates alike, showcasing a successful strategy against far-right politics while emphasizing the need for Amazon protection. His administration aims for zero deforestation by 2030, following a significant reduction in forest loss during his previous term.
Challenges remain, as Bolsonaro's party retains power in key regions, and agribusiness interests dominate Congress. Lula's victory serves as a potential blueprint for social and environmental movements in other countries facing similar political landscapes.
