Lauren Laverne has announced her diagnosis of smouldering myeloma, a blood and bone marrow disorder that can potentially progress to blood cancer. She emphasized that she currently feels well and does not require treatment, noting that the risk of developing active myeloma is low in her case.
This diagnosis follows her previous cancer treatment, from which she received the all-clear in November 2024. Laverne highlighted the importance of self-advocacy in health matters and plans to take a short break before returning to her hosting duties on BBC Radio 6 Music.
